Labor Day Is Not For Laboring
9/5/2011 5:33:53 AM

Is your life only getting better and the prospects of future success growing more positive by the day?  Or, are you one of the 14 million unemployed or the 8.8 million under-employed or the 2.6 million who have given up looking for work and so, are not counted in the government stats?   Add this all up and we find the 9.1 % unemployed figure looks more like 16.5+ % unemployed.

Do you wonder if our government is saying, "Oh well, let the people eat cake, again"?   Surely it is time for us to realize that change is inevitable.  We desire to hold our governments more accountable and yet, we lack the unity and the drive to do much about it.  This is a sad state of affairs.   In the past, it was the labor unions who helped in this process.  A hundred and twenty-nine years ago, the first Labor Day was celebrated in New York City and two years later, in 1894, congress designated it a national holiday in the U.S.A.  Without the unity of the time, this would not have happened.  Of course accountablility is important here as well.

This is a new time ...  a new era.   What we need is a new perspective, a new vision for our tomorrows.  Without vision, the people perish.  (Proverbs 29:18 Holy Bible).   What makes a nation great?  Do individuals prosper without interaction with others?  Have we forgotten the fundamentals of what makes the United States, Canada,  and other countries, great countries?

It is one of my observations that we often put up with too much nonsense in life; but, that we are willing to stand up for someone else whom we see going through the same difficulties.   We may get bullied but, we will not allow our children to be bullied etc.   This type of caring may be the spark we need to get the fire going again in our lives.

Change may not always be fun; but, it is necessary.  Of course, I am not talking the kind of change that the government offers.  I am talking about a new and better way to create income and security for ourselves and for our neighbors.   This may sound kind of crazy; but, caring about our neighbors and putting God first in our lives would create the ultimate unity and with that unity we would take back our countries and our lives.  If you believe that big brother will make things better for us or that you can simply focus on yourself in order to win in this 'out of control world', you will look back and see that you wasted you best option and run out of time

I truly hope that you enjoy this day and especially with your loved ones if you can.   Give some thought to what I have said and remember the other guy today too.  Consider how your neighbors are doing?  Ask your family how their friends families are faring in this economic depression.  Get everyone thinking about the other person too.  We are all in this mess together and it isn't going away any time soon.

Caring about your neighbor means treating them honestly in all of your dealings and being prepared to help where you are able.  Put God first in your life and consider what He would have you do and then make plans in your life and in your family and take action - even if it is small action.  Share your blessings with others and your life will be enriched.  Of this, I am sure.  Ask people how they are doing economically and health wise and listen in sincerity to their answers.  It is an important first step.

Happy Labor Day and may we enjoy the richest future blessings from the seeds of love we plant with our neighbors today.

Overwhelm and the Power Within
8/22/2011 9:46:29 AM
Did you ever wake up in the morning after a restless night and think that you cannot keep doing this anymore?   have you done this countless times and still forced yourself out of that cozy bed and back into the grind of the day? Is that what you call living?   It sounds like overwhelm to me. Perhaps we cannot just stop what we are doing; but, we can change what we are doing. This does not always happen in a minute although once we resolve to change, the change indeed begins. It is like planting a seed. We must water it and nurture it and it will grow and so will we; right out of our present situations. Try it, you'll like it.
Sometimes we seem to be placed in situations beyond our control and they become endurance tests. Can we keep on doing what we are doing until the storm breaks and life 'normalizes' once again?
One observation is that these testing moments which we may attribute to God are as often as not, self generated. Yes, indeed, we work ourselves into these corners and then try to patiently endure them while waiting on someone else to solve the problem or for the circumstances to change and the weather to change in our lives, so to speak. Can we still have personal growth in such situations? Yes we can; however, the best personal growth comes from creating our own solutions and working our way back out of the corners we create or we somehow get into.
There is something to be gained . . .
Procrastinate Your Way To Success
5/12/2011 10:45:55 AM
What!? That is an outrage... How can you procrastinate your way to anything?   Alright, I admit that it sounds kind of crazy; but, hear me out for a minute.   As you may know, I encourage everyone to re-evaluate their lives to get out of the rat race and into living their dreams, purposefully.
It never ceases to amaze me how busy we all are. Can you relate to the following scenario?  Almost daily I meet new people who are excited with what I have to say. They get very committed, almost immediately and desire to make changes for the better in their lives. This is all well and good; however, by the next morning, if not sooner, they find themselves so busily - back in their routines that all bets are off and the promised calls and other actions just do not happen.

These folks mean well and they were not trying to fool me or anything like that. They simply are back in the overwhelm state of mind and cannot squeeze in any more activities, even though they really want to.
So what is the solution?

Perhaps you can guess now.   It is procrastination.   Procrastination can be a great enemy or great friend. Let me explain. As an enemy, it gets in the way of achieving those things you truly want to accomplish or to have in your life. It puts off doing the very things you must do to succeed.
It is just as bad as having so many non-productive activities in your life that you cannot get to the key things you need to focus on in order to have your dreams come true.
Now, let's say that you decide to prioritize all of your activities and look at life a little differently from now on. All you have to do is to put off or procrastinate on the less important things and thus, make time for the truly important activities.   One of the beautiful things which happens is that many of the lesser activities which you procrastinate on, simply never have to be done. Even those which seem to be urgent are frequently just things that someone else would impose on you if you are willing to do them.
Today, we are bombarded by the requests and demands of others. If we simply procrastinate on doing those things, as we focus on what really matters, we shall accomplish real success and have a lot more time to enjoy it.

All the best to you in procrastinating your way to success.

The Spring Has Sprung
3/15/2011 12:31:09 PM
It is a funny thing but, it used to be that we could predict the first day of spring; for it was always March 21st.  Well, now it comes when the moon is right.  Kind of funny actually.  I suppose, a day difference here or there is no big deal.  The cool thing is that spring is here once more and with it, comes the excitement of new growth and the beginnings of the warm weather.

I have always loved this time of year.  I grew up in the northland and experienced a lot of cold and snow.  The winters were fun and beautiful and yet, spring held an excitement that gave us a special feeling of joy.  In fact, someone coined the phrase, "Spring Fever".    I look forward to this feeling each year.  Where I live, spring is in full bloom - now that I have escaped the cold north.

May this season bring with it, much joy and happiness and prosperity into your life and into the lives of your family; and may you make even more room in your heart for Jesus, The Son of God.  Happy Spring.
Escaping the Rat Race
3/15/2011 12:31:09 PM
Hi friends and neighbors.  Just thought I would remind you that we live in a crazy paced world and the term, 'Rat Race', seems so appropriate at times.  Up early and running to and fro all day and all evening and for some, all night.   I have a friend who passed on to the other side a few years back.  He was just 57.

He used to get out of work and participate with the several thousand others in that city, in the race to their homes.  He would arrive and immediately, take up a position on the couch.  Each day, he would rush home to do nothing.

As silly as it sounds, don't we all do such things in life?  When we stop and look back, can we see that often we have been just spinning our wheels a lot and in fact we might have slowed down and enjoyed a lot more play time if we had been wiser?

Do we not spend money excessively and when we look back, it is obvious?   Well, a part of success in life is taking charge and controlling the little things we do so that we can enjoy the big things in life or in other words, those things that will truly bring happiness into our lives, while reducing the stress at the same time.

All the best to you.  Mike
